Personal message: Informal Settlement -Joy to those in need! 2024

The coronavirus has had a devastating effect on every one of us particularly on the poorest of the poor. We are crowdfunding to enable the Informal Settlement in the Groot Marico North-West

Reaching our target will bring happiness and hope to people who don’t have the necessities, like running water, electricity, etc.

All funds raised will be used to create a hamper of food, water, and something sweet.

Personal Message: Rural outreach marimba band

The MARIMBA is one of those truly African instruments that is easily accessible to anyone and everyone. Children as young as five and six can play.

The youth from Groot Marico in the northwest has set up the most wonderful Miranda band. Unfortunately, their marimbas are over 15 years old and were donated secondhand.

They come together twice a week to practice and play.

They dream of going to the marimba festival in Johannesburg

it’s so wonderful to see the youths playing music rather than sitting on the streets.

The funds raised will go towards buying new marimbas. If we have money left over, it will go towards getting them to the marimba festival in Johannesburg, which would entail transport, food, accommodation, and entry fees to the competition.

Please consider covering the platform fee so more of your donations go to our project.

Children of Fire

Thank you to all those who have been following our journey and supporting us and we hope you continue to follow our journey and support us throughout the next two year
#Omphile is healing after his neck contracture release surgery and will be back home with us next week
Skin contracts (shrinks) when it is burned. Sometimes webs of skin can be released by cutting small Zs as surgeons ”play Zorro” &fold the points in; sometimes they need a full-thickness skin graft taken from elsewhere on the body or artificial skin is used.

SAVE THE GROOT MARICO

Groot Marico is a small country hamlet in the North West province which has mainly been affected by Covid, the lack of tourism, lack of food, and job losses. The population is largely illiterate, and a fair amount of GBV, HIV, and alcoholism is prevalent.
You can make a difference to these people by restoring their dignity and getting them to work by planting seeds to grow vegetable gardens and livestock so that they may become sustainable and empowered to feed their families.
Skills and learning will be transferred to children to teach them to become sustainable and have a hard work ethic.
The funds are needed for the Packets of
Spinach
Tomatoes
Squash
Potatoes
Granadillas
Citrus/fig seeds will be distributed to the community.
As the success of this grows, baby chicks could be introduced for lucrative chicken farming. In the long term, these vegetables and chickens could be sold to consumers.
Remuneration for this could pay for salaries as well as re-investment back into restocking the farms.

PROJECT PONCHO

With sub-zero morning temperatures and unpleasantly chilly days, the idea of providing children with a warm fleece poncho that can be worn during the day and used as a blanket at night came to mind.
We aim to make and distribute 6 500 ponchos this winter, and you can help!
The cold weather has already set in, and it is only going to get colder. We are urgently trying to raise money to buy enough fleece fabric to keep these little people in desperate situations warm.
The ponchos will then be distributed to the most vulnerable areas in Gauteng as well as areas that are often forgotten including North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Any contributions will be greatly appreciated!

We are specifically focusing on those who have been affected by the riots, and we will work through Gauteng Together.
Gauteng Together has a collective of Community Action Networks (CANs) which have been operating throughout COVID-19 to help communities at risk. The CANs are already established. Those who are working in areas affected by the violence will be the recipients of the CANs.
South Africans have been left shocked by the recent looting and riots. As a society, we are starting to help rebuild areas that were completely gutted by the violence. It is not just the food that we hope to provide to others, but to help create goodwill and partnership between our communities. Ultimately what happens in one area, affects every one of us.
As South Africans, now are the time to rebuild together and the campaign hopes to be one of many of these building bricks. Ultimately, though, we want to give fellow citizens hope and a full-tummy.
The needs of the communities will be assessed and the funds will be allocated accordingly. It is anticipated that the majority of the money will go towards food. Hampers will be made and distributed.
